InCON Family Friendly Gaming Convention

Update:  InCON was a success, with attendance of approximately 300 people.  YES - we'll be doing it again next year!   Save this date:  Aug 8/9, 2015!

Special announcement: we are partnering with Undiscovered Photography to bring InCON, a family friendly gaming convention to the Comox Valley in August 2014.

“InCONceivable” – a family friendly gaming convention that will be held in the Comox Valley on Saturday August 9, 2014. With two venues, the Florence Filberg Centre and Games and Grounds Coffee House, there will be lots of action for the day.

The convention will offer a CosPlay Costume Contest, a Scavenger Hunt, a Photo Booth run by Undiscovered Photography Door Prizes, Tournaments, Family Gaming Tables, Guest Appearances, Demonstrations, Panels and retail items from Vendors and Artists – all with a hobby/game related theme. Food and drink will be available on-site in both locations all day

Who better to bring you a gaming convention than these 2 Comox Valley businesses?!

Jessie and Courtney Pozzolo own and operate Undiscovered Photography, Vancouver Island’s leading Geek and Cosplay photography studio.  As self proclaimed ‘geeks’, Jessie and Courtney have blended their photography talent with their love of ‘all that is geek’ to provide a fabulous service that caters to this unique market.  From a girls glamourous day out personal session to a whole portfolio for professional cosplayers, they really bring it to their work!

Son, Josh Greenwood and mom, Alex created and work together with their wonderful employees (second family) at Games and Grounds Coffee House- the Comox Valley’s only gaming café that caters to gamers.  Selling a selection of games and gaming products, they also provide space to play computer, console, board & card games, RPG’s, miniatures and other suitable games people are interested in playing on-site.  They have created a warm, friendly, inviting atmosphere that embraces every individual that walks through the door.

The conversation went a little like this:

Alex:  “Hey Jessie – do you guys want to be the photographer at a Cosplay event we want to do?”

Jessie:  “Sure, sounds great, tell me more!”

Alex:  “Well, we want to expand our repertoire of activities, and it’s time for cosplay.”

Jessie:  “That would be cool, but why stop at just cosplay?  How about a whole convention?”

Alex:  “We’d love to do one, but they’re so much work and Josh and I just can’t do it ourselves…”

<grinning>  AND THE REST IS HISTORY!

In addition to the Pozzolo/Greenwood team we have Danya Etherington – a super-hero in her own right.  More than a Robin to his Batman, Danya brings creativity, enthusiasm and past volunteer experience to the planning stages of our convention.  Danya will be having a vendor table at the convention and is also ‘Volunteer in charge of exhibitors’.  Her next plan is to take over the world…  :)
